Put together by Portugal based destination wedding planner Olivia of Nulyweds and featuring the talents of bridal designer Seni Day, Peace and Love was inspired by the flower power times of the 60’s and 70’s where psychedelic colours were in abundance and girls all over the world were trying to recreate the iconic style and poses of Twiggy. Olivia tells us more…

Wedding planning

This shoot was inspired by the peace and love, flower power times of 1969 and drew huge amounts of inspiration from 60s and 70s fashion. As a destination wedding planner in Portugal and a huge colour fanatic, I created a colour scheme of canary yellow, white, oranges, reds and browns to bring this special shoot to life and give it a really psychedelic feel. I worked really closely with Ensi from Seni Dey on the concept.

We wanted it to be super editorial like it could belong in a fashion magazine but also have wearable wedding ideas if you are a vintage couple who would love this style. It was designed to be a cohesive look or one that you can take small inspiration from and make your own! If anything, I am a huge supporter of bringing colour into weddings in full force in the 2020s so I hope this helps in seeing how bright colours can come together.

There is so much to love about this shoot. The colour scheme, with its wonderful combination of yellow and red, is a delight and works so well with the varied backdrops of Margarida’s Place, a venue in Portugal that is packed full of quirky European rustic charm. We also love the fashion forward styling of the bride with her flared jumpsuit, white ankle boots and twiggy inspired dress.

Our florist, Happy Day Events designed a structural bouquet with an eclectic mix of flowers, as well as floral bracelets for our bride to show two ways of expressing your flower power.

The graphic design team Love Stories designed a unique folding invitation with our colour scheme, all based on triangular angles that were oh so 70s.

For the cake, Edelweiss cakes used the bright colours in the sugar flowers to tie into the theme. Piteira Photography enjoyed finding strange settings and corners in the venue to frame the cake. It may not be the prettiest cake table ever but it’s definitely unique and raw.
